"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and
look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Ferris Bueller
This was our chance to stop and look around Italy...
About Jamie and Gina:
We have been best friends since a college poetry class brought us together. We bonded over Gobstoppers, late night rollie chair derbies and somehow managed to get Art Degrees in there. We have been on many adventures together including a curling league, fencing classes, and numerous road trips. Now, we both live in the Denver area with our families. We ditched them and took off on another adventure by gallivanting half way around the world to view the plethora of art that we learned about in college and oh yeah... to eat gelato.

Where did we go?
Italy has always been on our short list of must see places. But, there are a number of other reasons that this trip to Italy was so special. Gina has Italian roots and it was a chance to see the art we studied in school, which is so very different when seeing it in person. And oh yeah... did we mention the gelato?
It's important to remember that you could spend a lifetime exploring and still not see it all. Thus, touring Italy with a return trip in mind is key. So, we made sure to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain and spin on the bull in Milan, assuring our return. After all, who are we to argue with legend and tradition? These traditions seemed to have worked for Jamie, since this was her second trip to Italy and second time on this Rick Steves' Italy tour. The beauty of touring with Rick Steves is that it allowed Gina to see the highlights of Italy, while allowing Jamie the free time to go to sights she missed last time. Jamie was impressed that the tour was not a repeat of her last trip and enjoyed the new experiences. We started our Italian adventure in Milan with a pre-day to see an important work of art before it falls off the wall (Leonardo's The Last Supper) and to give us an extra day to recover from jet lag. We then took a train to start our tour in Venice. We hope this website inspires you to take a big adventure with Rick Steves as your guide. Andiamo! |
